So… who am I and what do I do? I'm a designer, not a fashion designer or an industrial designer, nothing wrong with those, I'm just not one. What I am is a graphic designer / UX designer / web designer… allow me to explain, I studied graphic design and (with much blood, sweat and tears - from my lecturers) after 3 years they gave me a qualification and unleashed me on the world.
I went forth, with my fresh new graphic design qualification and a whole lot of arrogance (I was good, really good). In my first month of working I learnt a few things, one of which was; I didn't know as much as I thought I did, the other was; I am good. Since then I have always strived to improve my skill, talent and knowledge.
After working for some time in the traditional below-the-line design agency environment, where I mastered all sorts of things such as designing for print; posters, leaflets, newsletters, packaging, magazine & newspaper advertising, logos & corporate identities and even preparing all of that for repro, I needed a new challenge.
That was when a light shone from the digital domain, the internet, it presented a whole new set of challenges that I eagerly explored.
Since then I have been spending my time mastering the subtle complexities of HTML, CSS and designing for the web. My approach to interface design is very user-centred, always trying to successfully balance user experience with usability and the practicalities of web development.
