The ramblings of a somewhat chaotic mind

After trying (on-and-off) for about 2 years now to get my MMS working on my iPhone with Virgin Mobile SA, I finally got really smart and called their Call Centre!?!!

I found out that Virgin Mobile’s automated “download settings” doesn’t support the iPhone, and finally got the required settings to input manually. I’ve been googling extensively to find those settings and have never been able to get a definitive answer that worked, so for all of those still searching, here are the settings you need to input, and I can verify that these work :-)

You need to input the following info in “Settings” > “General” > “Network” > “Mobile Data Network”

MMS

  • APN: vmms
  • Username:
  • Password:
  • MMSC: http://mms.virginmobile.co.za
  • MMS Proxy: 196.31.116.242:8080
  • MMS Max Message Size:
  • MMS UA Prof URL:

Where I’ve left fields blank, you should leave them blank, no data is required there.
